What to know about moving in Austin
Austin is one of the fastest-growing metros in the country, and that growth creates real moving logistics challenges. The two hardest booking periods: UT Austin move-in day (third weekend of August, when 50,000+ students arrive simultaneously) and SXSW week in March, when the entire downtown core is gridlocked and hotel blocks displace short-term housing. For UT moves, book 6-8 weeks ahead, any apartment within half a mile of campus is fully committed by July 1. For downtown high-rises and The Domain, freight elevator reservations are mandatory: most buildings enforce a 3-hour window per reservation and limit moves to 9am-5pm. Buildings like 360 Condos, The Independent, and Seaholm District towers enforce this strictly. Request your elevator slot through building management as soon as your move date is confirmed. I-35 and MoPac (Loop 1) are reliably gridlocked between 7-9am and 4-7pm on weekdays. For cross-town moves (say, Cedar Park to East Austin, or Round Rock to South Congress), a route that takes 25 minutes at 6:30am takes 75 minutes at 8am. We schedule large cross-town moves to start before 7am whenever the customer can accommodate it. East Austin, Mueller, East Cesar Chavez, Govalle, has seen dramatic development. Many of the newer apartment complexes here have single-lane alleys for truck access; confirm truck clearance before booking. South Congress and South Lamar have similar constraint with limited off-street staging; parking enforcement is active on SoCo weekends. If you're relocating to Austin for Tesla, Apple, Dell, or one of the other major tech employers, corporate relocation moves happen year-round, same-week availability is usually possible outside of August and March.

How much does it cost to move in Austin?

Do I need to provide a truck?
We're labor-only movers. You rent the truck from U-Haul, Penske, or Budget. We handle all the loading, unloading, and heavy lifting. We'll tell you the exact size to get and can book it for you if you want.
Is there anything your movers won't move?
Especially heavy or bulky safes and pianos are best left to movers who specialize in those items. Keyboards, obviously, aren't an issue. Gun safes and firearms are best left to you. Contractually, our movers won't touch them.
