What to know about moving in Lexington
Lexington's moving year is, like most cities, busiest in the summer, but it does come with a few surprises. University of Kentucky move-in on the weekend before fall classes in mid-to-late August is the busiest stretch, and graduation weekend in May can get a bit hectic as well. If your move is around then, try to get it in early. Keeneland's spring meet in April and fall meet in October can snarl traffic a bit, as can any University of Kentucky football game on Saturday. We can work around them, but they're worth keeping in mind.
Where you live sets the truck. Chevy Chase, Ashland Park, and the older grids east of downtown are walkable streets with mature canopy, narrow drives, and low branches, so a 20-foot truck is usually the right call. Downtown's high-rises have a lot fewer loading docks than you'd expect, so moves load from the street with a short-term loading zone arranged through the front desk, and metered parking means extra time spent securing that. Hamburg, Beaumont, Masterson Station, and Andover are newer subdivisions with wide streets and straightforward access. Horse-country properties out Versailles Road and Old Frankfort Pike have long gravel drives and gates, so we need the code or a contact ahead of time.
Two employers shape the non-student flow. UK HealthCare relocates residents and fellows in June and July, and Toyota's Georgetown plant brings families into the north side and Georgetown year-round. New Circle Road is the ring that ties it together, and it is slow near Nicholasville Road from 4 to 6pm. October through March, weekday moves are usually bookable with 48 hours' notice, which makes winter the easy season here.

How much does it cost to move in Lexington?

Do I need to provide a truck?
Yes, we are labor-only. The U-Haul on New Circle Road is about ten minutes from downtown and the closest to most of the city. In the last week of July and mid-August, campus-area demand thins the lot, so reserve the truck when you book us. We name the size and can book it for you.
Is there anything your movers won't move?
Especially heavy or bulky safes and pianos are best left to movers who specialize in those items. Keyboards, obviously, aren't an issue. Gun safes and firearms are best left to you. Contractually, our movers won't touch them.
