Pricing & Quotes

How does Undergrads pricing work?

We charge a flat hourly rate based on crew size. Your rate is locked before we start, not estimated after the move. No stair fees, no fuel surcharges, no hidden add-ons. If we finish early, you pay less. Studio and 1BR moves typically run $299–$499. A 2–3BR home typically runs $499–$799. Truck rental is separate (paid directly to U-Haul or Penske) if you need one.

What does the $5 deposit cover?

The $5 holds your crew slot. It comes off your final bill. You pay the rest, the full labor rate, only after the move is done and you're satisfied. We don't charge you upfront.

What if my move takes less time than expected?

You pay for actual time, not estimated time. If your crew is efficient and finishes in 2 hours instead of 3, you pay for 2 hours. We round to the nearest 15 minutes.

Are there any fees I should know about?

No stair fees. No fuel surcharges. No long-carry fees. No elevator fees. No tip expected. The rate we quote is the rate you pay, hourly, locked before we start.

Is there a job minimum?

Every move has a 2-hour minimum with a crew of at least two movers. That covers most studio and one-bedroom moves on its own. If yours runs longer, the extra time is billed at the same locked hourly rate, with no surprise fees.

Do I need to tip my crew?

Tips are never expected. Our crew earns a competitive wage built into the flat rate. That said, if your crew knocked it out and you want to show appreciation, they won't say no. Entirely your call.

How do I pay?

We charge the card on file after the move is complete. We accept all major credit and debit cards. No cash required.

The Power Move (Labor + Truck)

What is The Power Move?

The Power Move is our labor-only model: you rent a truck, our crew handles all the loading and unloading, and you drive. Your stuff stays in your hands the whole time. Most customers save $400–$800 vs. full-service movers who bundle the truck at a markup.

Do I need to figure out the truck myself?

No. Your quote confirmation includes the right truck size, the nearest UHaul location, and a one-click booking link. Or we can book it for you and add it to your total. Either way, you drive it.

Do I need a special license to drive a moving truck?

No. A standard driver's license covers any truck up to 26 feet, with no CDL required. A 15-ft truck drives like a large SUV. Most first-timers say it wasn't an issue.

What if I've never driven a moving truck before?

It's more common than you'd think. We'll recommend a pickup location close to your current place to minimize drive time. UHaul offers a Collision Damage Waiver for about $28/day, worth taking. Most customers who've never driven one say it wasn't a problem.

Can you also do full loading and unloading without me driving?

Our model is labor-only. You're the driver. If you need a fully managed move including a professional driver, call us at (864) 256-1166 and we can discuss what's available in your market.

Our Crew

Who are the movers?

Undergrads movers are university students. They apply, interview, pass a background check, and are connected to their school email for real accountability. They're not day laborers from a staffing agency. They're people who have a reputation to protect.

Are they background-checked?

Yes. Every crew member passes a background check before their first job. They work under their real name, connected to their university. If a crew member doesn't meet our standards, they don't work.

How many movers will come?

Typically 2 movers for a studio or 1–2BR move. 3 movers for a 2–3BR home. 4 movers for a 4BR+. When you get a quote, we'll recommend the right crew size for your move.

Do they do furniture assembly and disassembly?

Yes. Standard furniture disassembly and reassembly is included. Bed frames, desks, bookshelves, dining tables. If you have specialty items (custom built-ins, treadmills, pianos), mention it when you book.

Do they wrap furniture?

Yes. Wrapping furniture in moving blankets is part of how we load, not an upsell. Every sofa, dresser, headboard, and table gets wrapped before it goes on the truck.

Move Day

What should I do to prepare for move day?

Have boxes packed and sealed before the crew arrives, unpacked boxes cost you time. Clear pathways through your home. Have your parking situation figured out (or tell us and we'll help). Keep valuables, documents, and medications separate to move yourself.

Do I need to be home while they work?

We recommend being present at the origin to supervise loading and at the destination to direct placement. You don't need to hover, but being available means you get exactly what you want where you want it.

What items won't the crew move?

We don't transport hazardous materials (gas cans, paint, propane tanks), plants (in most markets), or live animals. Standard furniture, boxes, appliances, and electronics are all fine.

Do you provide dollies and moving equipment?

Our crew brings the muscle and wraps your furniture in moving blankets as part of how we load. On full-service moves in Charlotte (crew, truck, and driver included), we bring everything the move needs, including blankets, dollies, and tie-downs. On labor-only moves, we recommend renting dollies and hand trucks from your truck provider, such as U-Haul, so you pick up and return everything in one place and only pay for what your move needs. Tell us about your items when you book and we'll advise on what helps.

What if I have more items than I estimated?

We'll work through it, that's what the crew is there for. Additional time is billed at the same locked hourly rate. We never stop mid-job or charge a surprise surcharge.

What if my building requires a Certificate of Insurance (COI)?

We provide COIs at no charge. When you book, let us know your building requires one. We'll email it to your management office before move day. This is included.

What time does the crew arrive?

You pick your start window when you book. We confirm your crew 24 hours before the move. Our Show-Up Guarantee backs this: if a mover arrives 30 minutes after the scheduled start, $50 comes off your bill.

Guarantees & Protection

What is the Show-Up Guarantee?

If a mover arrives 30 minutes after the scheduled start, let us know and we'll knock $50 off your final bill. A quick call, text, or email is all we need. We're confident enough in our show rate to put money behind it.

What happens if something is damaged?

Every move includes $1,000 in cargo protection. If something is damaged due to crew handling, we work with you to resolve it. File a claim within 7 days of your move, email us with photos and a description.

Are you licensed and insured?

Yes. Undergrads is fully licensed and insured in every market we serve. We can provide proof of insurance documentation for your building if required.

Booking & Changes

How far in advance should I book?

At least a week out for weekend moves. Same-week availability exists in most markets on weekdays. For end-of-month or summer moves, 2–3 weeks is safer. Call us if you need something fast, (864) 256-1166.

Can I cancel or reschedule?

Yes. Cancel or reschedule at no charge with at least 48 hours notice. Cancellations within 48 hours may forfeit the $5 deposit.

Do you move on weekends?

Yes. We're available 7 days a week including holidays in most markets. Weekend slots book faster, so get yours early.

Do you serve my city?

We serve Charlotte, Raleigh, Durham, Greenville, Charleston, Austin, Tampa, Orlando, and Jacksonville, plus surrounding suburbs. See the full market list at /locations.

STILL HAVE A QUESTION?
