Fairfax County moves split into two kinds. Tysons, Reston Town Center, and the Metro-corridor high-rises run on freight elevators, loading docks, and Certificates of Insurance, so we book the elevator window before anything else. The townhouse and single-family neighborhoods in Burke, Springfield, Vienna, and Centreville are HOA territory: reserved parking, rules on where a truck can sit, and cul-de-sacs a 26-footer cannot turn in, so a smaller truck often saves time. Summer is PCS season for the military and government families here and George Mason move-in lands in late August, so June through August books earliest. I-66, the Beltway, and Route 28 are slow at rush hour, and winter ice on sloped driveways is real, so we plan early starts from December through February.
