๐ŸŽ Kentucky ยท Major markets

1 major market in Kentucky.

Lexington moves run on UK's calendar and the city's split between old and new. We know the narrow one-way streets and single service elevators downtown, the detached garages and tight original staircases in Chevy Chase and Ashland Park, and the wide HOA driveways out in Beaumont and Andover. Different playbook in each, same crew standard.

Suburbs & surrounding cities

8 Kentucky cities we also serve.

Same crew standard, same Show-Up Guarantee, and the same rate as the metro each one sits in. If your address is anywhere in our coverage area, we've done a move there.

Kentucky moving guide

What a move in Kentucky actually involves.

When to move in Lexington

One calendar dominates Lexington, and it belongs to the University of Kentucky. The second half of August compresses an enormous amount of moving into about ten days as UK and Transylvania students arrive, off-campus houses near campus turn over almost completely, and truck rental supply in Fayette County runs short. Early May does a smaller version of the same thing in reverse as the school year ends. Outside those two windows Lexington is one of the calmer markets we operate, and same-week booking is the norm rather than the exception. Month-end still fills first because leases end on the 31st, and the horse-industry calendar puts pressure on hotel and rental availability around the spring and fall meets at Keeneland without much affecting move scheduling. A weekday in the first three weeks of the month is the easiest slot to get. If you are moving in August anywhere near campus, book two to three weeks out and expect the crew to want an early start.

Buildings, parking, and access

Lexington splits cleanly into three kinds of move. Downtown and the blocks around Main and Vine have narrow one-way streets, limited curb space, and buildings with a single service elevator, which makes timing and truck size matter more than crew size. The historic neighborhoods are the interesting ones: Chevy Chase and Ashland Park houses come with steep original staircases, tight landings, detached garages set back from the street, and mature trees that decide how close a 26-foot truck can actually park. Large furniture in those homes often has to come apart to make the turn at the top of the stairs, and we would rather plan for that than discover it. The newer subdivisions out in Beaumont, Hamburg, Andover, and Masterson Station are the straightforward end of the range, with wide driveways and direct access, though some HOAs still ask for notice. The student housing around campus is its own category in August, when elevator queues form.

What drives the price

Lexington is priced as one metro. A move in Andover costs what a move downtown costs, and there is no neighborhood surcharge for being on one side of New Circle or the other. What changes the quote is crew size, hours on the job, stairs, and the distance from the door to wherever the truck can park. In Chevy Chase and Ashland Park those last two are the whole story, because a steep original staircase plus a detached garage at the back of a deep lot adds more time than an extra bedroom of furniture would. Downtown, the constraint is usually the single service elevator. We quote a flat rate before move day rather than running an hourly clock, $5 reserves the date, and payment comes after the crew finishes. You rent the truck, and not paying for ours is the structural reason a labor-only Lexington move costs less than a full-service quote for the same house.

Kentucky questions

Which Kentucky areas do you serve?+

Our home market is Lexington, and we cover the whole city: Downtown, Chevy Chase, Ashland Park, Beaumont, Hamburg, Tates Creek, Masterson Station, and Andover, plus the surrounding Fayette County areas. If your address is anywhere in the Lexington metro, we cover it.

Do you charge more for one Lexington neighborhood vs. another?+

No. Pricing is by metro, not by neighborhood. A move in Andover is priced the same as one downtown. The model is the same everywhere: flat rate, $5 to reserve, pay after the move.

Can you handle the older homes in Chevy Chase and Ashland Park?+

Yes, regularly. Those historic homes come with narrow original staircases, detached garages, and tight interior turns. Tell us about stairs and oversized furniture when you book and the crew arrives with the right plan and truck size.

Do you bring a truck?+

No. We're labor-only, so you supply the truck, container, or pods and we supply the crew that loads and unloads. That is the main reason our pricing sits below full-service movers. We can book a U-Haul for you when you reserve your date.

Do you move UK students?+

Constantly, and our Lexington crews are largely recruited from UK and Transylvania. August around campus is the busiest stretch of our Lexington year, covering dorm move-ins, off-campus houses, and apartment turnover. Book two to three weeks ahead for late-August dates because truck rental supply in Fayette County tightens at the same time.

How fast can you book a move in Lexington?+

Same-week booking is the norm, and same-day is often possible on weekdays. Demand spikes around the UK calendar in August and at month-end, so book early for those windows. Submit a quote and we'll confirm a real timeslot.

Moving out of Kentucky?

We're labor-only, so we don't drive between states. For a move out of Kentucky you rent the truck, our crew loads it here, and a crew in the destination state unloads it there. Call (864) 256-1166 and we'll book both ends.
