Moving Tips for a Last-Minute Dallas Move
Beat the traffic
The Dallas North Tollway and US-75 (Central Expressway) both back up from about 7 to 9 in the morning and 4 to 7 in the evening, and the SMU corridor around Hillcrest and Mockingbird jams during move-in. For a cross-town move, a mid-morning weekday start keeps the truck moving instead of idling on the freeway.
Plan around the heat
From June through September, Dallas runs in the high 90s and often tops 100. We book the largest moves first thing in the morning and keep the crew hydrated, which protects both your belongings and the people carrying them.
Sort out parking and building access
Curbside parking is fine in most Dallas neighborhoods, but Uptown, Downtown, and Deep Ellum have metered spots and narrow streets, so set out cones early to hold your space. For the Uptown and Downtown high-rises, reserve the freight elevator and confirm any Certificate of Insurance with building management several business days before move day. Highland Park and University Park limit truck size and moving hours, so plan those moves for weekday mornings.
