What to know about moving in Dallas
Dallas moves break into three logistical buckets. Uptown, Downtown, and Knox-Henderson high-rises require COI filings naming the building as additionally insured, request from us 5+ business days out, and most reserve freight elevators in 2-hour windows. Bishop Arts, Deep Ellum, and Lower Greenville have walkable older grids with narrow streets, a 20-26 ft truck is the practical max for most blocks. Highland Park and University Park are restrictive on truck size and operating hours, plan moves for weekday mornings. The Galleria/North Dallas, Lake Highlands, and Lakewood suburbs are car-friendly with easy access. North Tollway and 75/Central traffic doubles between 7-9 AM and 4-7 PM, schedule moves outside those windows. SMU move-in (third weekend of August) and graduation (mid-May) jam the Hillcrest/Mockingbird corridor; book 3-4 weeks ahead for those weekends.
